Artwork around the hotel pays homage to Newport’s history. The room featured two queen beds, a flat-screen TV, a lounge area, and a coffee maker. They hardly spoke to me, but quickly checked me in and handed me the room keys. Before I could ask any questions, they were gone to the back.

It honestly worked out so well and gave us a well deserved break a few times a day to enjoy the gorgeous Lido House property. Crystal Cove State Park is a regional gem for hiking and exploring. The El Moro Canyon trail is especially beautiful in spring with wildflowers, but does feature some incline.

But the recently opened Gardiner House hotel can’t be squeezed into any tidy Newport lodging categories. The location was great because Newport Beach is great. The hotel’s dining options were also impressive, with The Mayor’s Table being a true gem (for breakfast & dinner) with a gorgeous bar. Also great was Newport Beach’s only rooftop bar and the overall nautical decor of the hotel.
